This is "Miss Charlotte" - Charlotte, really. She inspired one of my favourite characters in the Arazi Crossing series.Today I had the pleasure of being invited, by "Miss Charlotte", to my local elementary school's after school program to speak to a rather large group of children about my new book series. Since the launch of my first book last November, I have to say that this visit was the most memorable event, to date. I answered question after question from the grades 4,5 and 6's. I was put to the test:)
Since these children at the Young Adult reading level, we related very well. I invited them to create their own, unique names for the 5 main teen characters - as the teens will evolve and become immortal Aces and they will each be given a new name. It was a lot of fun.
One young boy came up to me at the end of the session and told me... flat out... that he believes Arazi Crossing will be a smash hit! I gave away 3 copies of book one via name drawing from a hat. One of the winners, a young girl, gave me not one, but two big hugs before I left! Wow...
Yes, today was a fine example of the main reason why I write books. To inspire and engage young readers to explore their own creativity through writing:)
